Professor Xu Bo pointed out that the transition from offline meetings to online meetings was brought about by this special year. EuroPCR and TCT in foreign countries have been changed to online meetings, and a series of online meetings have also been held in China. Online meetings have many difficulties, but at the same time, they are also an opportunity.
The biggest difference between online and offline meetings is that they are not limited by time or date, and can become continuing education activities on a broader and longer front. Therefore, CIT2020 Online will try to hold meetings in installments instead of focusing on 3-4 days. The meetings will be divided into ten sessions, starting from June 17th this year and continuing until November, with each session having different focuses and features.
By extending CIT's educational activity cycle, we aim to reach a wider audience for the conference. FAVOR III China: Milestone research highly anticipated
Professor Xu Bo introduced that the FAVOR III China research project was launched in June 2018. This is a truly prospective, multicenter, randomized controlled trial initiated by researchers, and blinded to patients and clinical evaluators as a superior efficacy trial. This study is a milestone research conducted by Chinese cardiovascular intervention experts without research funding support, and its progress is surprising.
The study started on December 25, 2018 at Fuwai Hospital, held a national launch meeting on January 5, 2019, and by January 15, 2020, a total of 5950 patients were screened and 3828 patients were randomly enrolled.
This study has attracted the attention of cardiologists around the world.
The reason is that the ISCHEMIA study published four results in the New England Journal of Medicine during the ACC period this year. The important takeaway from this study is that even for stable ischemic heart disease patients with moderate to severe ischemia screened using stress imaging, with a median follow-up of 3.2 years, initial invasive therapies include contrast imaging PCI、 Bridge construction and other treatments are surprisingly not superior to conservative drug therapy in hard endpoints.
This has brought a significant impact to the industry. How should stable coronary heart disease patients be screened so that they can benefit from revascularization? This is a very important issue that affects the future development prospects of PCI or revascularization as a whole.
In the past, among all randomized controlled studies comparing invasive therapy and drug therapy, only the FAME 2 study had positive results, and the biggest difference between this study and others is that its revascularization was completely guided by physiological FFR. However, although FFR is good, it is not a widely applicable technology worldwide.
Whether QFR, a coronary computational physiology technique, can be used to guide PCI and outperform traditional angiography guidance will become a very important milestone research that determines the future mode of revascularization.
That's why FAVOR III China research has received widespread attention. I hope the main endpoint to be released next year will bring an ideal result to the entire academic community.
